Jack E. Cooley

Guyton – Jack E. Cooley, 84, passed away January 13, 2019 at his residence.

The Alabama/Florida native came to Savannah as a young Air Force airman, where he met and married the love of his life, "Bob". They spent more than 61 years happily married, living in the Savannah area.  He served as an Allstate Agent and retired after 35 years.  He was most recently a member of First Baptist Church of Rincon and formerly a member and Deacon of Southside Baptist Church of Savannah.  He was always an active member of the church and served faithfully in many capacities.  He loved singing in the choir, teaching Sunday School, and volunteering his time to serve the Lord.  His favorite activities involved spending time with his family.  He enjoyed camping, boating, bowling, riding motorcycles, and playing numerous games with family and friends.  He was super competitive, but always with a joyous spirit.

He was preceded in death by his parents, W.L. Cooley and Aldine Kirkland; sisters, Betty King and Sally Carter.

Survivors include his wife, Barbara Lowery Cooley; daughters, Janet Cooley Alexander (Robert), Pamela Cooley Blake (Gordon), Kim Cooley Riedman (Paul), Jackie Cooley Alexander (David); grandchildren, Kevin Alexander and Gabrielle Alexander, Joshua Blake (Tiffany) and Zachary Blake, Hollie Riedman Phillips (Ryan), Jordan and Blake Alexander; great-grandchildren, J.T., Abby, Jaxon, Adaline; sisters, Sara Mears (William), Helen Dowling (Gerald), Sharon Griffin (Greg); brother, Jerry Cooley (Carolyn); brother-in-law, Otis Lowery (Sarah); sister-in-law, Lynda Lowery; and a number of nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday evening at the funeral home.

Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Friday afternoon in the chapel.

Interment will follow in Effingham Memorial Gardens.
