Rev. Jack Robert Hudson, Sr.

Savannah - Rev. Jack Robert Hudson, Sr., 75, died Friday, June 5, 2009.

Jack was born in Tampa Florida on August 5, 1933. He was raised by his grandparents, Jessie & Ada
Usher on a farm in Guyton. As a young boy he attended Guyton Christian Church and became involved in
Kicklighter Christian Camp. IN 1949 during a consecration service at Camp Kicklighter, he dedicated his
life to full time service in the ministry of the gospel. He was a graduate of Guyton High School in 1951,
Graduate of Johnson Bible College in 1955-also attended AT Columbia Theology at Emory University
where he received his Master of Divinity degree. Other areas of study include Christian Theological
Seminary, Indianapolis, IN, and Lexington Theological Seminary, Lexington, KY.

Ordained to the Ministry, August 16, 1953 at Guyton Christian Church and retired from the ministry August
16, 1998 from Guyton Christian Church.

Rev. Hudson's ministry of 48 plus years was spent in NC, SC, GA, & FL, at the following Disciples of
Christ churches: Avery's Creek Christian Church, Ashville, NC; Evergreen Christian Church, Walterboro,
SC; Glennville Christian Church, Glennville, GA; Damascas Christian Church, Griffin, GA; First Christian
Church of North Dade, Miami, FL; First Christian Church, Melbourne, FL; First Christian Church,
Savannah, GA; and Guyton Christian Church, Guyton, GA.

Jack was an outstanding golfer and competed in many golf tournaments throughout the south. He was also
active in softball until his late sixty's at Springfield Recreation Dept. and was recently inducted into the
Effingham County Hall of Fame for his athletic abilities.

Survivors include his wife, Ann Womble Hudson; three son's, Jack Robert Hudson, Jr., Michael Loice
Hudson, Timothy Paul Hudson; and one daughter, Phyllis H. Cheong; 9 grandchildren, Brandi Hudson
O'Rand, Chip Hoover, Logan Cheong, Tiffany, Timmy, II, & Sandra Hudson, Michael, Jr., Meghan, & Brie
Hudson; 1 great-grandchild; sister, Nell Haynes; uncle, Calvin Usher; aunts, Freida Morgan and Sadie
Shearouse; 5 step-children, Rev. Jim Womble, Carl Womble, Jenny Thompson, Julie Friday, and JoAnn
Smith.

Visitation will be 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday, June 7, 2009 at Strickland's Funeral Home, 2460 GA Hwy. 21
S., Rincon, GA 31326..

Additional visitation will be 11a.m to 12 noon Monday, June 8, 2009 at Guyton Christian Church with
funeral services following at 12 noon. Interment will be in Guyton Cemetery.
