Perkins
November 7, 1953 – March 6, 2018
Jack Edsel Perkins
November 7, 1953-March 6, 2018
Jack Edsel Perkins was born November 7, 1953 in Savannah, Georgia to Barney Perkins, Sr. and Jerene Shipes Perkins. He grew up in Springfield with his 5 siblings Betha, Preston, Earl, Ted, and David. He was also blessed with 3 older siblings, Barney Jr., Dick, and Peggy, who were grown when he was born. Jack grew up with a Mother who loved the Lord and made sure her children were present at the Springfield Baptist Church on a regular basis.
Jack graduated from E.C.H.S in 1972, then went into the Navy and served his country for 4 years. Upon completion of his time in the Navy, he began a long career in accounting with numerous Hotels, beginning with the Desota Hilton in Savannah, Ga. After numerous years in accounting, Jack decided to change careers, went to Nursing School in North Georgia, and become a Nurse. Jack worked primarily in Nursing homes and Rehabilitation Centers throughout Georgia and Florida. He is remembered by his family as being the fun loving brother and uncle who always had a great love for life and wanted to make sure everyone around him did as well. He had many one liners that we all laughingly remember. He spent most of his adult life in the Florida area, most recently in Ft. Lauderdale.
Jack has one son, Scott Perkins, 2 grandchildren Scott and Aubrei Perkins and one great granddaughter.
He is predeceased in death by his Father, Barney, his Mother, Jerene, his loving husband, Richard Bohne, and his half-sister, Peggy.
Please join the family in celebrating his life on Saturday, March 10, at Thomas C Strickland Funeral Home in Effingham County, from 11:00am to 1:00pm. No flowers please donate to your church or to your favorite charity in his honor.
