Guyton — Jackson E. Malcom Jr., known to many as Jack, was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend. He has left an indelible mark on the hearts of all who had the privilege of knowing him. With heavy hearts, we mourn the loss of a man whose kindness, resilience, and unrelenting love brought joy to those around him.
Born on August 16, 1962 in Thomson, GA to the late Jackson E. Malcom Sr. and the late Joan Ansley Malcom, Jack grew up in North Augusta. Jack embraced life with unmatched enthusiasm. His infectious laughter and warm smile were a testament to his vibrant spirit. From a young age, he showed remarkable dedication to reading and learning about anything he could. He graduated from North Augusta High School in 1980. This led him to pursue higher education first at the University of South Carolina then at Aiken Technical College for an associates degree in electromechanical engineering. He also earned a bachelor's degree in business management at Georgia Southern University.
After graduating, Jack embarked on a fulfilling career as part owner of Savannah WinLectric Company, where he worked for 26 years. His commitment to excellence and unwavering work ethic played a pivotal role in the company's success. Colleagues and employees fondly remember his leadership and mentorship, as he inspired those around him to reach their full potential.
Beyond his professional endeavors, Jack had a passion for the great outdoors. He was an avid camper, finding solace in the embrace of nature and the simplicity of life away from the bustling city. His green thumb was evident in his love for farming, nurturing his own little piece of paradise. As a skilled shooter, he found joy in perfecting his aim and sharing his expertise with others.
Jack's love for music was also a significant part of his life. He was a self-taught banjo and guitar player, and his melodic tunes filled our hearts with joy. He would often entertain family and friends, especially Kalani, with his captivating performances, showcasing his talent and love for the instrument.
Jack was not only a remarkable professional and devoted family man, but also an exceptional human being. His genuine kindness and compassion knew no bounds, as he consistently went above and beyond to help others. Whether it was lending a listening ear, offering a helping hand, or providing words of encouragement, Jack had an uncanny ability to make everyone feel seen, heard, and valued.
Jack was also actively involved in various community organizations. Over the years, he has been a dedicated member of the Alee Shriners Pirates Unit and later on the Director's Staff. He was an active participant in the Effingham Young Farmers, where he contributed his time and expertise to promote agricultural education and support local farmers. He was a proud member of the Sons of Confederate Soldiers Ebenezer Camp, where he upheld the values of heritage and history. He was also a respected Mason of the Guyton Lodge, embodying the principles of brotherhood and community service. His involvement in these organizations reflects his deep commitment to serving and improving the community around him.
Jack's faith was an integral part of his life. He was an active member of Guyton Christian Church where he served as a deacon, elder, board chairman and the property manager for several years. His dedication to his spiritual journey was an inspiration to all, and he found solace and strength in the love of his church family.
Survived by his loving wife, Rebecca Rahn Malcom, their daughter Rachel Kylie Malcom, and cherished granddaughter Kalani Rachel Malcom, Jack's family was the center of his world. He treasured every moment spent with them, and his love for them knew no bounds. His sisters, Donna Malcom Barnhill and Pam Malcom Graziano, were not only his siblings but also his lifelong confidantes and pillars of support.
Those who had the privilege of knowing Jack will forever remember his unwavering loyalty and support. He was a true friend, always there to offer a helping hand or a shoulder to lean on. His words of wisdom and guidance were sought after and cherished by many, as he possessed a unique ability to offer perspective and encouragement in times of need.
Jack touched the lives of many, leaving behind a legacy of love, kindness, and unwavering determination. His memory will forever be etched in our hearts, and his spirit will continue to inspire us to embrace life with the same zest and passion he displayed every day. His impact on the lives he touched will continue to resonate, reminding us all of the power of compassion and the importance of making a difference in the world. He will be greatly missed but forever remembered as a truly exceptional man.
A celebration of Jack's life will take place at Guyton Christian Church on Tuesday, September 5, 2023 with visitation beginning at 3 p.m. and the service following at 4 p.m., where loved ones will gather to honor and remember him.
If you wish to make a contribution in Jack's memory, the family kindly requests donations to be made to the Guyton Christian Church Memorial Fund or the American Cancer Society, both causes that were close to his heart.
Though he may be physically absent, Jack's presence will forever linger in the memories and stories shared by those who loved him. May he rest in peace, knowing that his impact on this world will never be forgotten.
