J. Edgar "Ed" Davis
J. Edgar "Ed" Davis, 82 of Savannah, and formerly of Bloomingdale, went to be with his Lord and Savior on Saturday, May 30, 2015.
Mr. Davis was born on February 28, 1933 in Bulloch County to the late Rufus Eli Davis and Eula Bernice Morris Davis. He was a member of Bible Baptist Church in Savannah and was actively attending South Newington Baptist Church. Mr. Davis retired from American Cyamid formerly known as Kemira in the early 1980's. He then became owner and operator of Davis Construction Company for the next thirty plus years. He then retired three years ago only to pass it on to his son-in-law, Randy Hackle. He loved the Lord and would tell you about him every chance he got. Mr. Davis loved to be around people and was known to many as "The Hugger". He loved all people but especially his family. Mr. Davis was preceded in death by his first wife, Mary J. Davis and granddaughter, Mindy L. Mitchell. His brothers, Bennie Davis, Junior Davis, Harold Davis, Philip Davis, and Frank Davis
Surviving are his wife, Martha Nell Hogan Davis of Savannah; his daughters, Angela D. Mitchell (Glen), Ashley D. Hackle (Randy), and Ashley D. Swindell (David); his sons, William E. Daniels, Jr. (Danny) and Mark T. Daniels (Terri); grandchildren, Marci Hawkins (Steven), Jacob Mitchell, Michelle Buchan, Michael Buchan, Aaron Hackle, Justin Hackle, Shelby Swindell, and Mason Daniels; His sisters, Sara Westbrook, Julie Renninger; and several nieces, nephews, and special friends.
Visitation will be Monday 6-8p.m. at Thomas C. Strickland and Sons Funeral Home, West Chatham Chapel.
The Funeral will be held 11 a.m. Tuesday in the chapel of the funeral home
Interment will be in Bulloch Memorial Gardens
