Springfield – Jake Carey Burnsed, Jr., 81, passed away February 20, 2025 at his residence.

The Tattnall County native was a retired owner/operator of Piggly Wiggly in Garden City.  He enjoyed fishing, hunting, golfing and all sports but especially the Atlanta Braves and Georgia Bulldogs.  He loved listening to classic country music.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Jake Carey Burnsed, Sr. and Madge Rountree Burnsed.

He is survived by his wife, Mary Burnsed; children, Tiffany Mobley (Roger), Crystal Silas (Greg), Amber Waters (Tyler), Keri Dellinger (Jordan), and Jake Carey Burnsed, III; grandchildren, Derrick Mobley (Katie), Laura Williams (Zach), Aubrey Mobley, Jeb Mobley (Haley), Thomas Mobley, Alaina Silas, Kiley Silas, Raina Dellinger, Atlas Waters, and Kora Dellinger; 4 great-grandchildren; sisters, Myra Evans and Melanie Neal; and several nieces and nephews.

A family memorial will be held.
