J.P. "Jake" Mongin
Rincon- J.P. "Jake" Mongin, 90, died Tuesday, July 12, 2016 at St. Joseph's Hospital.
The Metter, GA native was a member of Rincon Baptist Temple. He had retired from American Cyanamid after 32 years of perfect attendance. Jake had taught Sunday School for over 50 years, was an ordained Deacon, and had helped build four churches. The US Army veteran loved to farm and garden, being best known for his lilies.
He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Edna Mongin; children, Jim Mongin (Janelee), Sonja Laughner, and Paul Mongin (Tammy); grandchildren, Christy Hulsey, Justin Laughner, Gretchen Byers, Leah Wilson, Liza Estes, Ethan Mongin, Madison Mongin, Graham Mongin; 11 great-grandchildren; two brothers, Don Mongin and Herman Mongin; two sisters, Eunice Barnes and Irma Collins; and many nieces and nephews.
Visitation: 6-8 pm Thursday, July 14, 2016 in the funeral home.
Funeral: 11 am Friday, July 15, 2016 at Rincon Baptist Temple.
Interment: Sand Hill Baptist Church Cemetery.
