Bloomingdale-Mr. James A. Brown, 66, passed away on Saturday, September 9, 2017 at his home.
James was born in Statesboro, GA to the late Robert H. & Mattie B. Brown. He resided in Effingham County his entire life. He served his country in the U.S. Army as a crew chief on a helicopter, and was a member of the Meldrim Baptist Church. He loved fishing and classic cars, including his 1972 GTO.
Survivors include his wife, Judy Brown; children and their spouses, Robin & Bennett Smith and James Michael & April Brown; grandchildren, Bonnie Brown, Madison Brown, and James "Mikey" Brown; great-granddaughter, McKynley Brown; sisters and brothers, Janie Smith, Billy Brown, Janell (Woody)Woods, Peggy (Gerald) Wise, Mary (Daniel) Dasher Betty Weathers, Sue (Johnny) Thompson and Tommy (deceased)(Mercie) Brown, and several nieces and nephews.
The visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. on Friday at the funeral home.
The funeral will be at 2 p.m. on Saturday at the Meldrim Baptist Church located at 229 Ohoopee Avenue. Burial will follow at Oak Hill Cemetery in Meldrim.
