James Floyd Akins - GARDEN CITY - James Floyd Akins, 92, died April 11, 2016 at his home. He was born in Bulloch County GA and moved to Savannah from Statesboro in 1928. He retired from the GAF Corporation and was an Army Air Corp veteran of World War II and an Air National Guard veteran of the Korean War.

He was preceded in death by his parents Lewis Hardy Akins and Bertha Jane Barker Akins and two brothers Harry Lee Akins, Young's Island, SC, and Clinton Lewis Akins, Savannah, GA. Surviving is a brother Euel Akins, Statesboro, GA, a nephew Clinton Lewis Akins, Jr Savannah, GA., and nieces Patricia Akins Waters, Fernandina Beach, Fl., Delores Akins Fleming, Statesboro, GA., Carolyn Akins Rogers, Augusta, GA., and Brenda Akins Davis Pooler, GA.

Visitation: 5-7 pm Wednesday, April 13, 2016 in the funeral home. Graveside service: 2 pm Thursday, April 14, 2016 at Bonaventure Cemetery.
