Bloomingdale-Mr. James O. Arnold, 75, died on Wednesday, September 17, 2008 at
Hospice Savannah with his family at his side.
Mr. Arnold was born in Emanuel County, retired from Union Camp, enjoyed gardening
and served in the Air National Guard for 9 1/2 years. He was a member of the
Bloomingdale First Baptist Church where he was a Deacon and had taught the Mens One
Sunday School Class for 41 years and he sang in the choir for 35 years.
Survivors include his wife of 41 years, Sybil Arnold; children, Phil & Nancy Emory,
Kathy Emory, Connie & Steve Alperstein, Stanley & Judy Arnold, Chris Arnold
(Adrian), David Arnold, Joey Emory and Tammy Ganas; 15 grandchildren; 11
great-grandchildren; brother, Robert Gene & Rose Deal; 5 nieces and 5 nephews.
The visitation for Mr. Arnold will be from 6-8 p.m. on Thursday, September 18, 2008 at
the Thomas C. Strickland & Sons Funeral Home, West Chatham Chapel in Pooler.
The funeral to honor Mr. Arnold's life will be at 1 p.m. on Friday, September 19, 2008 at
the Bloomingdale First Baptist Church. Mr. Arnold will lie in state from 12 noon until 1
p.m. at the Church. Rev. Darrell Bailey will officiate and the Deacon's of the Church
will serve as pallbearers. Burial will follow at Hillcrest Abbey West Cemetery on Dean
Forest Road.
