Mr. James C. "Jim" Murray, Jr., 85, of Savannah, Georgia, passed away on Wednesday, March 10, 2021 at his home.
He was born in Apex, North Carolina to the late James Cicero Murray, Sr. and Margaret Moore Murray. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Ebbie Mae Grovenstein Murray. He served his country in the United States Army, retiring after 20 years of dedicated service. He also retired from Cox Pest Control after almost 20 years of service. He enjoyed watching both NASCAR and baseball, and will be remembered as a simple and humble man.
Survivors include his sister, Katherine Rebecca "Becky" Batts of Killeen, Texas; niece and nephew, Dawn DeVoe and Greg Batts; two sons, James "Jimbo" Murray and Gary Lee Murray, both of Smith Station, Alabama; step-daughter, Debra Chambles and her husband, Donnie Chambles, of Gum Branch, Georgia and their step-son, Gerald Grovenstein; granddaughter, Cady Summers; great-grandson, Ayden Blake Drew, several grandchildren and great-grandchildren and his best friends forever, Susan Summers and Craig Williams.
The family would like to express a special appreciation to Amedisys Hospice and the lovely lady's that took care of him.
The visitation and viewing will be from 10 a.m. until 12 noon on Friday, March 19, 2021 in the chapel of the funeral home.
The graveside funeral and burial to honor Jim's life will be at 1 p.m. on Friday, March 19, 2021 at Hillcrest Abbey West Cemetery located at 1336 Dean Forest Road in Garden City, Georgia.
