IN LOVING MEMORY OF
James (Jim)
E. Anderson
May 13, 1950 – October 23, 2022
James (Jim) E. Anderson, 72, passed away October 23, 2022 at his residence.
Jim grew up in Moorestown, New Jersey. He attended Bates College in Maine, earning a Bachelor's Degree, and the Institute of Paper Chemistry in Wisconsin, earning his Masters in Paper Chemistry. Jim enjoyed traveling and met his wife Jill while working on a strawberry farm in Norway. They spent many happy years together traveling around Europe working on multiple farms. They later moved to South Africa, Jill's home country, where Jim worked at the SAPPI paper mill and where their son, Ralph, was born.
Six years later the family moved to America and settled in Rincon, Georgia, where their son, Ian, was born. Jim worked as a paper chemist and as a truss designer in Savannah, Georgia. Upon his retirement he worked four summers in Yellowstone National Park where he was excited to work with his son, Ralph.
Jim loved the outdoors and was very active in Boy Scouts, earning the rank of Eagle Scout. When his sons were old enough to be scouts, he enjoyed volunteering with the Pack and the Troop. He particularly enjoyed teaching backpacking skills to the older scouts. He was also Cubmaster of Cub Scout Pack 665 for ten years. He enjoyed soccer and coached numerous youth soccer teams.
Jim was a quiet man, but passionate about his family, boy scouts and being outdoors. His family loved camping, backpacking, and visiting national and state parks. Both of his sons inherited his love of the outdoors.
He is survived by his wife of 39 years, Jill Anderson; son Ian Anderson, daughter-in-law Lauren Anderson; grandchildren Karsten and Thea Anderson; sister Christine Anderson (Albert Monaco); brother Steven Anderson (Carolyn Rothschild); niece Suzanne Monaco, and nephew Curt Monaco.
He was preceded in death by his parents Margaret and Elvin Anderson and his son, Ralph Anderson.
