James Edward "Jimmy" Smith "Bojangles"

Rincon – James Edward “Jimmy” Smith “Bojangles”, 70, passed away April 20, 2026 at his residence.

The Effingham County native was a member of the Clyo Masonic Lodge #280 F. & A.M., Effingham Shrine Club, and ABATE. He was an avid fisherman, deer hunter, and biker. He was a member of the Baptist Church at Ebenezer and was a truck driver. His greatest joy was being a “Pop Pop” and spending time with his family.

He was preceded in death by his parents, James Clifford Smith, Jr. and Janice Naomi Page Smith; and brother, Dennis Smith.

Survivors include his wife, Shellie Smith; son, Billy Smith (Mandi); grandsons, Tucker and Tanner Smith; sister, Marsha Anderson (Tom); niece, Mindy Pulver (Mark); nephew, Bobby Macke (Nickie); 3 great-nieces; 1 great-nephew; and his brother in Christ, Brad Bacon.

Visitation will be 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday, April 23, 2026 at the funeral home.

Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Friday, April 24, 2026 at the funeral home chapel.

Interment will follow in Jerusalem Lutheran Church Cemetery.
