Springfield – James Robert Hodges, 87, passed away November 4, 2023 at his son's residence.

The Effingham County native served in the U.S. Army.  He retired from the State of GA D.O.T. and Effingham County D.O.T.  He enjoyed bowling, fishing, and doing yard work.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Lester and Lois Hodges; wife, Karen Hodges; and brother, Edward Hodges.

Survivors include his sons and daughters-in-law, Toby Hodges, Heath Hodges and Cindy Hodges, and Bridget Smith; grandchildren, Anthony Hodges, Ash'Lee Tillman, Victoria Hodges, Thylen Hodges, and Keaten Hodges; great-grandchildren, Harleigh Hodges, Peyton Hodges,  Waylon Hodges, Annaleigh Hodges, Levi Hodges, Raylen McKenzie Tillman, and Macgyver Perry; sisters, Jane Miller and Joyce Bowers; and several nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be 11 a.m. to 12 noon Friday, November 10, 2023 followed by funeral services at 12 noon in the funeral home chapel.

Private graveside services will be held.
