James Edward "Jim" Rose, 74, died Thursday, December 7, 2017, at ST. Joseph's Hospital in Savannah, Georgia.
Jim Rose was born and raised in Ashland, Kentucky and was the son of Sonny Edward and Tera Mable (Stambaugh) Rose. He attended Ashland High School, served in the Navy for four years and then attended Morehead State University. He moved to Atlanta and worked in sales, and also owned a custom glass business. Later in life, he returned to the Ashland area and became an ordained minister. He felt it was his life's calling. He loved to witness to others, sing spiritual music, and be with family and friends. Some of his favorite hobbies were cooking, fishing, painting, and making people laugh.
He was preceded in death by his parents: Sonny and Mable Rose, and five brothers: Robert Gene, Donald Joe, Jack Darbin, Gary David, and Timothy Keith.
He leaves behind his three children: Rachel (Daniel) Morgan of Cincinnati, Ohio; Megan (Spencer) Thomas of Canton, Georgia; and Joshua (Tiffany) Rose of Savannah, Georgia. He also leaves behind seven grandchildren: Cole, Brady, Griffin, Nate, Addison, Lily and Jenna.
A celebration of life service will be held at Hyland Heights Missionary Baptist Church in Catlettsburg, Kentucky, on Saturday, April 28, 2018 at 2 PM. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that you donate to the church or charity of your choice.
