Mr. James L. "J.L."McCullough, 95, formerly of Garden City, passed away on Tuesday, November 1, 2016.
Mr. James was born in Stillmore, GA to the late Melvin & Bena McCullough. He was also preceded in death by wives, Lenora Berry McCullough and Pheney Jones McCullough. He was also preceded in death by his daughters, Naomi Powell and Yvonne Merrill, a several siblings, including Nona Bell Collins. He was a member of Landmark Holiness Church and retired from the State of Georgia Highway Department. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, and gardening.
Survivors include his step-daughter, Diane Kicklighter; step-sons, Thomas and Julius Jones; 8 grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren and a number of great-great-grandchildren; brother, Willie Carson McCullough; sisters, Vondelle Monroe, Janelle Brown, and Mamie Foster as well as a number of nieces and nephews.
The visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. Wednesday in the chapel of the funeral home.
The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Thursday in the chapel of the funeral home with the graveside funeral and burial to follow at 2 p.m. at Lake Cemetery in Metter. Rev. Jeff Butler will officiate. Pallbearers will be Tim Miller, Wendell Poole, Jr. Mike Poole, Hudson Poole, Ricky Poole, Frankie McDaniel and Jackie McCullough.
