James Ellabee Lewis

James Ellabee Lewis, age 84, passed away on December 11, 2022.  He was born in Savannah, Georgia on August 20, 1938.  James was talented from a young age in the areas of masonry and building.  In September of 1960, he married the love of his life, Dorothy Carole Fountain.  They were married for 62 years.   He was talented, intelligent, driven, and loved his family very much.  During retirement, he could often be found boating, fishing, gardening, woodworking, or starting a new project which brought him joy.  He loved music of all genres, dancing, and singing.  James loved a good joke and always found a way to make others laugh, even in tough situations.  He would often say, "When it's my time, don't bring me flowers.  Instead, bring me a bowl of soup to make me better." He will be dearly missed by those that knew and loved him. May he rest in eternal peace.

He was preceded in death by: his father, G. E. Lewis; mother, Lillian Bland Lewis Bruce; and brother, George R. Lewis ("Bobby").

He is survived by: his wife, Dorothy Carole Lewis; son, James Steven Lewis (Sandy); daughter, Carole Susan Harris (Adam); two grandchildren, Christie Duran and Kathryn Harris ("Kate"); two great grandchildren, Austin Duran and Logan Duran; a sister, Sharon Triplett; nieces, nephews, and cousins.

A private service for Mr. James Ellabee Lewis will be held for family on Saturday, December 17, 2022 at 12:30 pm at Forest Lawn Memory Gardens in Savannah, Georgia. A celebration of life will be held at a future date.
