Obituary

Pooler-Mr. James Amos Nixon, 85, passed away on Friday, August 19, 2011 at Hospice Savannah.
Amos was born in Roanoke, Alabama on September 6, 1925 to the late Mary Beulah Henry and Andrew Marion Nixon. Amos served in World War II in the Army. He received a Purple Heart for being wounded in both legs. Amos was a proud member of the Savannah Chapter of the Masonic Lodge. He was an avid fisherman and hunter and was a huge Atlanta Braves fan. Amos was preceded in death by his wife of 65 years, Clara Mae Nixon and son, Ronnie Nixon.
He is survived by daughters, Ellen Boyett (Carl) of Faulkville, Dianne Nixon of Smyrna, GA and Sibyl Finnegan of Richmond Hill; son, Tim Nixon (Natalie) of North Augusta, SC; twelve grandchildren, sixteen great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
The visitation will be from 5-7 p.m. on Sunday, August 21, 2011 at the funeral home.
The funeral to honor Mr. Nixon's life will be at 1 p.m. on Monday, August 22, 2011 in the chapel of the funeral home with Rev. Walt R. Sparks officiating. Burial will follow at Greenwich Cemetery with military honors.
