Guyton – James L. Smith, 61, passed away on Thursday at his home surrounded by his family.
James served in the army in Germany as a cook for four years and worked as a carpenter thereafter. He was a member of LifeSpring Worship Center. He is preceded in death by his father, Walter R. Smith, a brother, Walter Vicky "Red" Smith, and a sister, Roma Jean Teigue.
Survivors include his children, James "Jimmy" Smith, Janet Collins, and Jamie Leigh White; mother, Sherma R. Smith; sister, Lana Nesmith, Sharon Longworth; brother, Greg Smith, Gary R. Smith, Sr., Reuben Smith, Sr.; nine grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Visitation: 5-8 p.m. on Sunday at the funeral home.
Funeral: 11 a.m. on Monday in the chapel of the funeral home with burial at 4 p.m. at Pineforest Cemetery in Homerville, GA.
