Mr. James L. Spilliards, 91, of Pooler, GA, passed away on Tuesday, March 14, 2023.

James was born in Manor County, PA to the late John D. Spilliards and Lillie Malphrus Spilliards.  He was also preceded in death by a brother, Bobby Spilliards and his sister, Faye Tremelling.  James had been a member of Jasper Springs Baptist Church since 1944.  He loved his church and was very involved, serving in various positions such as a Deacon and Sunday school teacher.  He served in the National Guard for 14 years and was a member of the Frank F. Baker Masonic Lodge #46 F&AM.  He retired from National Gypsum after 42 years of service.  His hobbies included fishing, woodworking, golfing, gardening, and bird watching, but most of all, spending time with his family.

Survivors include his wife of 71 years, Margaret E. Spilliards; children, Jimmy Spilliards (Nancy), Steve Spilliards (Libby), and Denise Kessler (Brown); grandchildren, Leta Virant (Tom) and Emily Patel (Sagar); great-grandchildren, Caden and Cooper Virant; brother, Marvin Spilliards, and several nieces and nephews.

The visitation will be on Friday, March 17, 2023 from 1 p.m. until 2 p.m. at the funeral home.  The funeral will follow at 2 p.m. in the chapel of the funeral home.  The graveside funeral and burial will be at 11:30 a.m. on Monday, March 20, 2023 at Forest Lawn Memory Gardens located at 315 Greenwich Road in Savannah, GA.
