Jane Seckinger Edwards
Springfield – Jane Seckinger Edwards, 89, passed away Wednesday, January 11, 2017 at Effingham Extended Care Center.
Born December 30, 1927 in Effingham County, Jane grew up and was baptized in Jerusalem Lutheran Church. After marriage she joined and became a longtime active member of Laurel Hill Lutheran Church where she sang in the church choir, taught Sunday school, served as Sunday school treasurer, and was a member of the women's church group.
Jane was a homemaker and enjoyed cooking for her extended family, and was noted for her delicious raisin bread and cinnamon rolls.
She was a member of the Clyo Homemakers Club where she enjoyed quilting and card playing. She was a member of the Effingham County Fair committee and Effingham County Farm Bureau.
She was a member of the Georgia Salzburger Society where she once served on the board of directors and enjoyed displaying her tating skills-a dying art form at the annual Labor Day Heritage Festival.
Jane is preceded in death by her parents, G.W. and Effie Waldhour Seckinger, and her husband of 58 years, James Exley Edwards.
Survivors include her daughters, Julie Hynes (Bob), Janice Ford (Doug) of Springfield; sons, Kerry Edwards, Marty Edwards (Susanne) of Clyo, and Dennis Edwards of San Francisco, CA; 8 grandchildren, Adam Hynes, Lucas Hynes, Jared Rahn, Dustin Ford, Jake Ford, Jason Ford, Marshall Edwards, and Jesse Edwards; 4 great-grandchildren, Bryleigh Hynes, Hudson Edwards, Nora Rahn, and Logan Ford.
A special thanks to her many caregivers at the Effingham Extended Care Center and those who cared for her at home.
Visitation will be 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. Saturday at Laurel Hill Lutheran Church with funeral services following at 11 a.m.
Interment will follow in the church cemetery.
Remembrances in lieu of flowers may be given to Laurel Hill Lutheran Church, P.O. Box 185, Clyo, GA 31303.
