Janice Marie Morel Porter

Springfield – Janice Marie Morel Porter, 80, passed away February 2, 2019 at Effingham Care Center.

The Effingham County native was a member of Mizpah United Methodist Church and retired from Effingham County Board of Education.

She was preceded in death by her parents, T. W. and Carymell E. Morel; husband, James Preston Porter; daughter, Debra Gail Porter; granddaughter, April Joy Murray; brother, Charles Morel.

Survivors include her children, Lynn Porter Murray (Carey), James Bourne Porter (Karen), Peggy Porter Page (Tony); grandchildren, Chad Murray (Jean), Christy Murray Sikes (Mitchell), Wesley Porter (Rosie), Leia Porter, Harley Porter, Hunter Porter Bennett (Shaw), Victoria Page, Brittany Porter; great-grandchildren, Dallas and Carli Owens, Makynna Odom, Braxton Porter, Ira Wampler, Kara and Addie Beebe, Dashiell Troup, Aleela and Triton Burnsed; siblings, Betty Sanderlin, Bennie Morel, Sandra Ewen; and a number of nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.

Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Tuesday at Mizpah United Methodist Church.

Interment will follow in the church cemetery.
