Obituary

Jay Anthony, born April 26, 1956 was preceded in death by his father Jay Warren, mother Myrtle Louise, sister Theresa Tedford, and loving wife, Sandra Barnard Harrison.  Jay is survived by his daughter Rebecca Smith of Citrus Springs, FL (husband Philip), granddaughters Audrey Le of San Antonio, TX (husband Ben) and Megan Grant of Clarksville, TN (wife Heather), and grandson Harrison Grant of Citrus Springs, FL.  Jay is also survived by his step-mother Marjorie Harrison of Middleburg, FL and is the beloved oldest brother of Janie of Chicago, IL (husband Milt), brothers Terry of Bailey, NC (wife Gwenn), and Paul of Charlotte, NC (wife Cheryl), and sisters Penny Miller of Middleburg, FL (husband Daniel), and Jacqueline McSwain of Shelby, NC (husband Scott).  Jay Anthony, or Janthony as he was often teased by his siblings, also leaves behind numerous nieces and nephews.  His hobbies included anything military, military history, guns, and researching his ancestry and proud Scottish lineage.  Jay joined the military straight out of high school and led an amazing career with participation in Panama, Grenada, a tour in Korea, as well as Desert Shield and Desert Storm.  Beginning in the 82nd Airborne in the infantry, Jay applied and graduated from flight school as a Blackhawk pilot, concluding his career culminating the pinnacle of his assignments as a pilot for the elite 160th SOAR (A), the Night Stalkers, standing up Savannah's newly formed 3rd BN in 1990, eventually retiring in 1999 as a CW4.  As a part of this elite brotherhood, Jay embraced the scripture from Isaiah 6:8, "Also I heard the voice of the Lord, saying, Whom shall I send, and who will go for us ?  Then said I, Here am I; send me."  After military retirement, Jay worked for TSA after 9/11 and enjoyed being an agent for his assigned district airports until retiring permanently and enjoying his days spending time with friends and family.  Jay was a regular patron of Spanky's Westside and leaves behind many colleagues, fellow veterans, and friends in the community.  Until the very end of his life and through many obstacles endured, Jay fully embodied the Night Stalker Creed, "I serve with the memory and pride of those who have gone before me for they loved to fight, fought to win and would rather die then quit" NSDQ.  The family will receive friends from 11 a.m. until 12 noon on Saturday, January 15, 2022 at the funeral home.  The memorial service to honor' Jay Anthony's life will follow at 12 noon in the chapel of the funeral home.  Thomas C.
