Obituary

Jean Marie (Kelly) Parker, 89, passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by her family on Thursday, July 10, 2025.  Jean was born on April 20, 1936 in Cambridge, Massachusetts.  She was the youngest of 13 children.  After meeting her husband while he was in the Navy, they married and grew a large family of their own, eventually moving to Georgia in 1970.  She was an amazing mother, Nana, and Nanny to those who loved her the most.  Her strong faith was unshakeable as she made the best of every situation, most times with a smile on her face.  A smile that could light up the room.  She loved fully and unconditionally.  She truly never met a stranger.  She was beautiful.  She was smart.  She was funny.  Most importantly, she was loved beyond measure.  She will be dearly missed, especially by her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.  She was preceded in death by her parents, Harry and Emily Kelly; her husband, Ira Frank Parker Jr.; her daughters, Tracy Parker and Karen Lee; a granddaughter, Amanda Parker; and her siblings and grandparents.  Survivors include her children, Susan (Robert) Sikes, Rosemarie (Albert) Dismuke, Linda Parker, Paula (Andy Edwards) Parker, and Ira Frank (Georgie) Parker III; her grandchildren, Leigh Dismuke, Richard Beckum Jr., Christina Gibson, Christina (AJ) LaValley, Raymond Dismuke, Carl Brower Jr., Jamie Holcombe, Jessica Dismuke, and Victoria Parker; great-grandchildren, Eric Beckum, William Gibson, Dylan Gibson, Abigail Hughes, Caitlyn Gibson, Parker Wilson, Jaxon Wright, Preston Wilson, Frankie Dismuke, Ava LaValley, Allen Dismuke, Clara LaValley, Connor Dismuke, and Jameson Peth; as well as a large extended family.  The visitation will be on Thursday, July 17, 2025 from 12:30 p.m. - 1:30 p.m. at the funeral home followed by the funeral service at 1:30 p.m. in the chapel of the Thomas C. Strickland & Sons Funeral Homes - WEST CHATHAM CHAPEL - 901 West Highway 80 - Pooler, Georgia followed immediately by burial at Westside Memorial Gardens in Bloomingdale.  In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation in her memory to a charity of your choosing or to St. Jude Children's Hospital, which was very close to her heart.
