Obituary

GARDEN CITY – Jerry James Kaiser died on Monday, August 24, 2015, the victim of an automobile accident. He is predeceased by his parents Roscoe H. and Evelin A. Kaiser of Livonia, Michigan, a sister, Patricia Ramey, also of Livonia and grandson Montana Kaiser of Claxton GA.

Jerry was born on December 31, 1937 in Livonia Michigan. In 1954, Jerry joined the United States Air Force. In 1977, after 20 years of military service Jerry retired at the rank of Senior Master Sergeant as an Aircraft Propulsion Superintendent. During his military career he served on various Air Force bases and did multiple duty assignments in Viet Nam, he also served at various Air Force bases, including Savannah, Georgia. He was a member of the Retired Enlisted Association. After his retirement from the Air Force, he was employed as an Oil Field Safety Officer for Baker and Taylor Oil Company in Texas and for Big Chief Oil Company in Oklahoma. Upon retirement, Jerry moved to Claxton, Georgia where he was employed by Claxton Poultry as head of security. He retired from Claxton Poultry in 2002 but continued as a consultant for several years.

Jerry was a very humble generous person who cared for his community, his country and his family. A devout Christian, he lived his faith and was always available to help anyone in need. He never met a stranger and had a wonderful sense of humor, which he enjoyed using to put a smile on everyone's face. As an active member of Garden City United Methodist Church, he served on various boards and committees. He was a member of the United Methodist Men and designated UMC Men's Life member. He is a past president of the Garden City Christian Men's Fellowship. He worked diligently for the Lions Club of Georgia serving as Lions District Governor, District 18-B and Council Chair for the state of Georgia.

He is survived by his wife of 22 years, Brenda Nease; a son Jay Kaiser and wife, Sherry Walling, of Garden City; a daughter, Georgia Japenga and husband Greg of Romeo, Michigan; a son Tim Pegg and wife Susan of Urbandale, Iowa. Grandchildren: Sterling Kaiser, David and Savannah Japenga, and Ben and Tyler Pegg. Family members include a sister Melinda Huling and husband Mike as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

The family will receive visitors on Saturday, August 29, 2015, from 10:30 a.m. to 11:45 a.m. at Garden City United Methodist Church, 62 Varnedo Avenue, Garden City, Georgia 31408. Services will follow at noon in the church. The Rev. Ashley Randall and The Rev. Michael Huling will officiate. The internment will follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens, 325 Greenwich Road, Savannah, Georgia 31404.

In lieu of flowers, the family request donations be made to the Garden City United Methodist Church Building Fund.
