Claxton-Mr. Jerry Carson Youngblood, Sr., 65, passed away on Friday, November 26,
2010 at his home.
Mr. Youngblood was born in Chatham County and lived for a number of years in Pooler
before moving to Claxton. He was preceded in death by his father, Joe L. Youngblood.
He was a member of Sandhill Baptist Church and retired from Galaxy Foods in Claxton.
Survivors include his loving wife of 39 years, Elaine Youngblood of Claxton; children,
Jerry C. (Nicky) Youngblood, Jr. of Pooler and Jennifer E. Youngblood (Brad Halford) of
Pooler, Denise Love of Columbus, GA and Andrew Long of Andersonville, GA;
grandsons, Cody Youngblood, Jerry Youngblood, III, Jordan Youngblood and Brandon
Love; granddaughters, Alexis Halford and Sierra Love; great-granddaughter, Rhylee
Gudel; mother, Helen Woods Youngblood of Guyton; sisters, Joann Exley of Guyton,
Gladys (Joe) Allen of Black Creek, Rachel (Thomas) McBrayer of Savannah and Phyllis
Simmons of Garden City and a number of nieces and nephews.
The visitation will be from 6-9 p.m. on Monday at the funeral home.
The funeral to celebrate Mr. Youngblood's life will be at 11 a.m. on Tuesday in the
chapel of the funeral home with Rev. Royce Hendry and Rev. Sim Youngblood
officiating. Active pallbearers will be Joey Peacock, Lee Sherrod, Michael Ortega, Val
Ervin, Paul McBrayer, Cory McBrayer and Danny Simmons. Honorary
pallbearers will be Chris Gay, Andy Long, James Eason, Barney Stokes, Ronnie Dasher
and Ernie Seigler.
