Guyton-Mr. Jesse M. Flake, 85, passed away on Wednesday, October 21, 2009 at his
home.

Mr. Flake was born in Bulloch County to the late Norman Grady and Agnes Denmark
Flake. He lived in Chatham County prior to moving to Effingham County 21 years ago.
He served his country in the Merchant Marines during World War II and retired from
CSX Railroad after over 30 years of service. He was a member of the Garden City
Primitive Baptist Church. In retirement he enjoyed real estate investment, farming and
restoring antique cars. He was preceded in death by his sweet wife of 58 years, Myrtle
Cook Flake, an infant son, granddaughter, Leiah Suddath, sister, Mary Jarriel and a
brother, Richard Flake.

Survivors include daughters, Lynn (Ray) Suddath of Columbus, Marsha (Richard) Brown
of Savannah and Jessica (John Terry) Sauerland of Guyton; grandchildren, Melissa and
Machelle Brown, Tiffany Johns, Taylor and Taren Sauerland; sister, Ella Nora Parrish of
Florida; brother, Delos E. Flake of Bulloch County; sister, Jane Inez Flake of Atlanta and
numerous nieces and nephews.

Visitation: 6-8 p.m. on Friday at the funeral home.

Funeral: 11 a.m. on Saturday in the chapel of the funeral home with burial to follow at
Middleground Church Cemetery in Bulloch County.
