Pooler-Mr. Jesse James White, III, 70, passed away on Thursday, November 1, 2012 at Hospice Savannah.
Mr. White was born in Savannah to the late Jesse James White, Sr. and Mary Jane White. He was a retired hairstylist and was a member of Southwest Baptist Church. He had been envolved with a prison ministry in Lousiana, enjoyed horses and writing poetry and was also a Mason.
Survivors include his wife, Bernice S. James of Pooler; children, MariAnza (Tim) Potter of Corning, NY, Jessica (Lukas) Wargin of Black Creek and Judith Ann James of Bloomingdale; step-children, Philip (Karen) Martin of Little Rock, AK, Jacquline (Porter) Haskew of Bloomingdale and Mechele Martin of Coushatta, LA; 12 grandchildren; 4 great-grandchildren; sisters, Betty Faye Oliver of Savannah and Lillie (Wayne) Williams of Houston, TX; brother, Joe White of Macon and a number of nieces and nephews. Mr. White was preceded in death by 2 sisters and 5 brothers.
The visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. Saturday at the Thomas C. Strickland & Sons Funeral Home in Pooler.
The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at Southwest Baptist Church, located at 831 Little Neck Road in Savannah with Dr. Robert B. Peacock officiating. Burial will follow at Beulah Baptist Church Cemetery in Pembroke.
