Rincon - Jimmie Leo Weredyk was born May 30, 1938 in Lakeland, Georgia and passed away Sunday, September 20, 2015 at his residence.

His parents were Charlie and Alberta Jones. He was in the Air Force from April 1955 to 1959. He then joined the Army in 1960 and retired in 1979. He was stationed in the Philippines, Korea and fought in the Vietnam War. He and his family had the opportunity to travel extensively and were stationed in Germany, Colorado, Maryland, Texas, and Georgia. After retiring the family decided to move back to Effingham County because they loved the people and he could spend his free time doing what he liked best which was fishing and hunting.

After retiring from the Military he had several different jobs but in the end he refinished furniture and opened an Antique Shop in Savannah. In 1998 he closed the Antique shop and continued to sale antiques at Scotts Antique Market in Atlanta until last year.

He is survived by his wife Beverly Weredyk, three children Deanne, Tim, Doug, one daughter-in- law Tammy, 5 grandchildren; and his sister, Betty. He also has two children from previous a marriage, Jimmie and Randy Wirt, one daughter-in-law, Trish; 3 grandchildren; and one great grandchild.

Visitation will be 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday, September 22, 2015 at the funeral home.

Funeral services for Jim will be held at Bible Lutheran Church on Wednesday, September 23, 2015 at 11:00 a.m.

The family would like to suggest memorials to Bible Lutheran Church for an Altar Cross in the Sanctuary as an alternative to flowers.
