Pooler-Mr. Jimmy Lynn Mitchell passed away on May 8, 2014 at Candler Hospital after a courageous battle with an illness.
He was born on June 21, 1955 to James and Tomoko Mitchell. Jimmy was a member of Holly Springs Baptist Church in Franklin, NC. He retired from the State of Georgia after 25 years of service at Georgia Regional Hospital as a nurse practioner and many years of service at all three Savannah Emergency departments.
He was predeceased by his mother, Tomoko Nagashima Mitchell and his father, James Wesley Mitchell, who passed away on May 8th, at home, four hours prior to his son's passing.
Surviving are his sister and brother-in-law, Marcia and Bobby Strickland; his brother and sister-in-law, William and Emma Mitchell; his closest and personal friend of the family, Homer Lee Slater and the entire Slater family; his step-mother, Patricia Boatright Mitchell; step-sisters, Cathye Rhodes and Lynne Boatright; step-brother, Butch Boatright (Susan); niece and nephews, Wesley (Kristen) Horton, Amy (Rey) Edenfield, Christopher (Nastasia) Mitchell and Coy Mitchell. He was also blessed with four great-nephews and three great-nieces, not to mention numerous friends and extended family.
Visitation: 12 – 2 p.m. Monday in the chapel of the funeral home.
Funeral: 2 p.m. Monday in the chapel of the funeral home.
