Springfield- James R. "Jimmy" Mitchell, 54, passed away Thursday, January 13, 2022 at Effingham Hospital.

The Effingham County native was owner/operator of J & D Mitchell Septic Tank Service. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Springfield, Springfield Masonic Lodge # 440 and the Effingham Shriners.  Jimmy was an "old soul" who enjoyed hunting, fishing, cooking, working, and spending time with his family.

Survivors include his wife of 32 years, Stacy Exley Mitchell; children, James Dalton Mitchell (Jessica) and Ansley Mitchell Rahn (Joseph); grandson, Chapman Dalton Mitchell; parents, John & Joy Mitchell; brothers, Johnny Mitchell (Kristy) and Jeffery Mitchell (Julie); father & mother-in-law, Austin and Ann Exley; brothers-in-law, Craig Exley (Melanie) and Corey Exley (Christina); and several nieces and nephews.

Visitation: 1- 2:45 pm Sunday, January 16, 2022 in the funeral home.

Funeral: 3 pm Sunday, January 16, 2022 in the funeral home chapel.

Interment: Effingham Memorial Gardens
