Mrs. Joanne Oglesby of Garden City, GA passed away on Friday, December 31, 2021.  The funeral service will be held at 11:00am on Saturday, January 8, 2022 at the Thomas C. Strickland and Sons Funeral Home. Visitation with the family will be held at the funeral home at 10:00am. Burial will follow the funeral at Greenwich Cemetery at 2:30pm.  Joanne Oglesby was born on September 15, 1952 and grew up in Skokie, Illinois. She was married to William Oglesby II for 41 years.  Joanne worked as a paraprofessional for the Savannah Chatham County Public School System for 24 years, retiring from Georgetown Elementary School. She loved working with children and was loved by her students and fellow educators.  Joanne enjoyed fishing, playing card and board games with family and friends, volleyball and water aerobics. Her greatest joy was spending time with her husband, children and grandchildren.  Joanne was a faithful member of the Garden City church of Christ for many years. She was known for her integrity, kindness and warm hugs.  Joanne is survived by her husband, William Oglesby II; her children, Marie McDermott (Jason) and William Oglesby III; her siblings Richard (Susan) King, Patricia (William) Fulkerson, Thomas (Charlene) King, and Diane (Greg) Engstrom; her grandchildren, Kaleigh McDermott and Walden McDermott and a host of nieces and nephews.  Joanne is preceded in death by James King (father) and Loretta King (mother).  Thomas C.
