Pooler-Mr. Joe Perry Collins, Jr., 72, went to be with the Lord on April 27, 2008.
Joe served his country in the Air Force and the Georgia Air National Guard and retired from the Georgia Ports Authority as a police officer and retired from the Civil Service. He was a member of the White Bluff United Methodist Church. He liked spending time with his granddaughter and wood working. He was preceded in death by his mother, Mittie McCarty; father, Joe Perry, Sr. and a sister Lucille Peterson.
Survivors include his wife of 48 years, Sammie R. Collins of Pooler; daughter, Kelly R. Scholes of Pooler; granddaughter, Amanda R. Scholes of Pooler; and sister, Sally Shanor of Hawaii.
Visitation: 6-8 p.m. on Tuesday at the funeral home.
Funeral: 11 a.m. on Wednesday in the chapel of the funeral home with burial to follow at Newton Cemetery.
