Pooler - Mr. Joe Chalmas Motes, 77, died Saturday, February 20, 2010 at his residence.

The Bulloch County native was a member of Abundant Life Ministries in Hardeeville.
He retired from Union Camp after 39 years, loved fishing and racing cars.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Leonard Motes and Olar Sparks Motes,
daughter, Pamela Motes Love Miller, and sister, Marie Motes Glisson.

Survivors include his wife of 49 years, Margaret Finch Motes of Pooler; son, Joe Stephen
(Terry) Motes of Bloomingdale; grandsons, Michael Jason Love, Matthew Justin Love,
Joey Lee Motes, and Ryan Andrew Motes; brother, Eugene "Rabbit" (Violet) Motes of
Savannah; sisters, Beatrice Faircloth of Savannah, Grace (G.A.) Faircloth of Savannah,
Sarah Kate (Dock) Wilson of Ellabell, Nellie Ruth Pipkins of Palm Coast, FL, and
Gloria (Wayne C.) Barnes of Oxford; special cousins, Geneva Thompson, Doris Jenkins,
and Ruth Bolton; a number of nieces and nephews; and his church family.

Visitation will be 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.

Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Tuesday in the chapel.

Interment will follow in Forest Lawn Memory Gardens.
