Obituary

Tybee Island – Joe C. Sikes, 94, passed away Wednesday, July 31, 2024 at Candler Hospital.

The Glennville native graduated from Glennville High School on May 24, 1948. He served in the US Army from 1950 – 1952, then worked for Seaboard Coastline Railroad for the next 18 years.  Joe founded Springfield Honey Farm and then Glenn-Lee Trucking Company in 1978. He was preceded in death by his parents, Roger Wood & Myrtice Tatum Sikes; and sisters, Elfreda Sikes Jones and Mathadeen Sikes Hodges.

He is survived by his sons, Lee Sikes (Donna) of Rincon and Glenn Sikes (Michelle) of Springfield; grandchildren, Jeremy Sikes, Lindsey Sikes O'Dell (Ryan), Devin Sikes (Chelsea), Dalton Sikes (Hannah), Abbey Oglesby (Mason), Alec Sikes, and Avery Sikes; great-grandchildren, Destiny Sikes and Shepard Joseph Sikes; 2 great-great-grandchildren; sisters, Betsy Sikes Wicker and Myrtle Sikes Thomas (Bill) both of Tampa, FL; brother, Roy W. Sikes (Mary) of Springfield; and several nieces and nephews.

Memorial Visitation: 1-3 pm Saturday, August 3, 2024 in the funeral home.
