John W. Attaway

Rincon - John W. Attaway, 73, passed away March 5, 2021, at Memorial Health. He was preceded in death by his father and mother, Mr. Horace and Mrs. Annie Mae Attaway, and brothers Jimmy H. Attaway and Randy Attaway.

He was in the army and was a Vietnam veteran. He worked as a millwright supervisor at Tronix and JCB. He loved the Lord and served over the years as a Sunday School teacher, in church choir, and on several church committees. He was a member of Goshen Road Baptist Church. He sang in gospel groups "Hearts of Joy" and  later "The Attaways" and gave devotionals in nursing homes. He loved his family and his children. He liked to laugh and had a jolly personality.

Survivors include his wife of 45 years, Margie Stephens Attaway; daughters Shalah Beckworth (Charles), Star Lee (Gary), Hope Stephens (Richard), and Terrie Murray; several grandchildren and great grandchildren; and nephews.

Visitation: 10 -11 am Thursday, March 11, 2021 in the funeral home.

Funeral: 11 am Thursday, March 11, 2021 in the funeral home chapel. Masks and social distancing are required.

Burial: Hillcrest Abbey West
