Guyton- John R. Batchelor, Jr., 70, passed away January 9, 2026 at home.

The Effingham County native was a member of Zion Lutheran Church. He worked as a supervisor for GMA Masonry. John's outgoing personality caused him to love being around people. He loved racing , fishing, hunting, carpentry, masonry, building things, and just about any outdoor activity. He was loved by all that knew him and never met a stranger.

John had lots of toys, and always said "When it is over with and done, the one with the most toys won?". He won.

John was preceded in death by his wife, Linda Batchelor; son, John Batchelor, III; father, John Batchelor, Sr.; and mother, Malah D. Pack.

Survivors include his sisters, Pam Sebastian (Rick) and Cindy Cordero (Francisco); brothers, Guerry Batchelor and Mark Batchelor (Michelle); nieces and nephews, Jennifer Batchelor, Marcus Batchelor, Heather Browne, Brooke Jones, and Megan Bragg; great nieces and nephews, Wyatt, Bailey, Alexis, Braylynn, Amelia, Harrison, William, Winston and Aaron; numerous cousins; and his cat, Rebel.

Visitation: 3-5 pm Sunday, January 11, 2026 in the funeral home.

Funeral: 11 am Monday, January 12, 2026 at Zion Lutheran Church.

Interment: Zion Lutheran Church Cemetery.
