Oxford, MS – John William "Bill" "Peeps" Hovious, 79, passed away January 4, 2024 at Legacy at Savannah Quarters.
The Mississippi native served in the U.S. Army during Vietnam. He was a retired educator in which he loved. He was a lifelong "Ole Miss" fan, avid golfer, and enjoyed all sports.
He was preceded in death by his parents, John "Junie" Alexander Hovious, Jr. and Katherine Elspie Tennant Hovious.
Survivors include his daughter, Tiffany Altman (Brian); grandchildren, Natalie Altman and Nicholas William Altman; brothers, whom were closer than most, Brad Hovious (Marcia) of Nashville, TN, Allen Hovious (Lucy) of Nashville, TN, and Bob Hovious (Terri) of Oxford, MS; step-brothers, Steve Hale (Mary Lou) of Oxford, MS and Greg Hale (Melly) of Orlando, FL; several nieces and nephews, and the other "black sheep"; step-daughter, Samantha Dismuke (Earl) of Oxford, MS; step-son, Scott Thomas (Kim) of Fayetteville, NC; 5 step-grandchildren.
Celebration of life services will be on Saturday, February 17, 2024 at 5:00 p.m. at Ole Miss Golf Course in Oxford, MS.
