Rincon – John David Carter, Sr., 56, passed away October 25, 2022 at his residence after a long battle with A.L.S.

The Chatham County native retired from Gulfstream after many years of service.  He was an avid outdoorsman whom loved hunting, fishing, camping, golf, and softball.  David was a good husband to his Pookie Bear having spent 25 amazing, loving, and spicy years together.  Also, known as Poppy, David loved being there for his kids and grandkids, from sports, to pageants, or school events, he was their #1 fan.

He was preceded in death by his father, Marcel Carter; brothers, Doug Carter and Chad Carter.

Survivors include his wife, Donna Carter; children, Christy Carter, Danielle Into, Krystle Hall (John), D.J. Carter, and Christina Sykes; mother, Patricia Gibson (Bill); "Poppy's Angels", Brayci, Alexis, Olivia, Kinleigh, Kolten, and Sophia; brother, Jimmy Carter (Eileen); brother, Tony Gordon (Jynee); sister, Julie McComas; several nieces and nephews; he was also survived by many beloved friends to include Keith Murray (DeAnna) and Neal Altman.

Visitation will be 12 noon to 1 p.m. Friday, October 28, 2022 at the funeral home followed by funeral services at 1 p.m. in the chapel.

Interment will follow in Effingham Memorial Gardens.

Remembrances may be given to the A.L.S. Association of GA or the Effingham Navigators.
