Ellabell – John Lewis Chase, 76, passed away Friday, November 22, 2013 in the home of his daughter.
Mr. Chase retired after 24 years of service in the Air Force along with fifteen years in the food service business and another ten years as a bus driver. He was a devoted father and provider for his family. He was a huge Alabama "Roll Tide" fan and enjoyed nothing better than getting together with family and friends for a cook out, card games or just sitting around the pool having fun. He is preceded in death by his sisters, Miriam Sanders, Earline Chase Jackson; brothers, Buford Chase and Arrol Chase.
He is survived by his children, Robby Chase (Amy), Vicky Burney (David), Helen Ramaglia (John), Cathy Hall (Henry), and Sandy Chase; sister, LeMerle Hill; along with many grandchildren and great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
The visitation was held from 3-5 p.m. on Sunday, December 1, 2013 at the funeral home.
The funeral to honor Mr. Chase's life was held at 12 p.m. on Monday, December 2, 2013 at South Newington Baptist Church. Rev. Steve McCoy officiated and the pallbearers will be Damon Chase, Joseph Ford, Joshua Powell, Clint Peth, David Peth and John Ramaglia.
Burial followed at Effingham Memorial Gardens with full military honors.
