John Richard "Dickie" Hilton

John Richard "Dickie" Hilton, passed away peacefully at home on July 8, 2018.

He is survived by his wife of 40 years, Brooke Hilton; his daughter, Jessica Lavin (Jeremy); grandson, Connor Lavin; and siblings, Harriette Ann Hilton, David Hilton (Sue Ellen), Jo Francis Shatzer, and Lex Hilton (Vivian); and numerous nieces and nephews.

Dickie will be greatly missed by all who knew him. He was looking forward to being reunited with his mother & father, Jacqueline S. Hilton & John David Hilton in heaven.

Dickie was born in Wilmington, NC, and grew up in Carolina Beach, NC. He enjoyed working with his family, J.D., David, and Lex, building and maintaining numerous golf courses up & down the Eastern Seaboard. They would often get together and tell stories about their childhood at the beach and adventures on the golf course.

Dickie was generous with his time, energy, and always willing to help someone in need. He believed in conversations on the porch, going barefoot, and family. He had a great big laugh and soon had everyone joining in.

I will miss his helpful hands, big heart and easy going ways. Thanks to all the wonderful neighbors, Brother Q, and North Salem Baptist Church for all the love and support during our journey.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held 2 pm Saturday, July 14, 2018 at North Salem Baptist Church.
