John Guyo "Guy" Tyson, Jr., 54, of Port Wentworth, GA, passed away on Monday, December 6, 2021.
Guy was born in Savannah and was a graduate of Robert W. Groves High School. He was very involved in athletics with the Garden City Recreation Department from a young age. As the quarterback, he led the Falcons to the county championship and winners of the Rebel Bowl. He loved all sports, especially playing softball. He attended Goshen Road Baptist Church and will be remembered as never meeting a stranger. He was a lifelong iron worker, and was a member of Local Union #709.
Survivors include his daughter, Harley B. Tyson; step-daughter, Kaitlyn Fields; parents, John G. Tyson, Sr. and Judy Kerby Tyson, as well as several aunts and uncles. Guy was preceded in death by his grandparents, Peggy Edwards Kerby, Delmas Kerby, Mattie Wright Tyson, and Burdette Eugene Tyson, and four uncles, Leslie Brinson, Mitch Kerby, Bill Tyson and Jimmy Tyson.
The visitation will be at the funeral home on Sunday, December 12 th from 1 until 2 p.m. The memorial service to honor Guy's life will follow at 2 p.m. in the chapel of the funeral home.
