Springfield – John H. Hunter, Jr., 77, passed away, Thursday, May 26, 2022 at his home.

The longtime Effingham County resident was retired from 165 ^th Airlift Unit with the Georgia Air National Guard. He was preceded in death by his sister, Crystal Hunter Flathman.

He is survived by his wife, Gloria Jean Hunter; children, Sherri Hunter Walsh and Stephanie Hunter Harrison; grandchildren, Zane Harrison, Liam Harrison, Raegan Harrison, Taylor Walsh, and Benjamin Walsh; brothers, Thomas M. Hunter, Brian Hunter, and Greg Hunter; and several nieces and nephews.

Family held a private graveside service at Springfield Cemetery, where military honors were observed.
