Brooklet – John Edward Malphus, 85, passed away April 27, 2024 at Memorial Health.

The Effingham County native served in the U.S. Marines and was a retired Carpenter.  He enjoyed building swings and rocking chairs.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Samuel Christopher Malphus and Thelma Irene Griffin Malphus; and his wife, Susie Bell Edwards Malphus.

Survivors include his children, Dorie (Eddie) Rogers, Marie Hoover, and Amanda James; grandchildren, Eddie Rogers, Jr., Caleb James, Jessie James, Trenton Strickland and Russel Riner; great-grandchildren, Leah Faith Rogers and Sadie Noel Rogers; cousin, Janice; and numerous relatives and friends.

Visitation will be 2 p.m. to 3 p.m. Wednesday, May 1, 2024 at the funeral home followed by funeral services at 3 p.m. in the chapel.

Interment will follow in Turkey Branch Baptist Church Cemetery.
