John Joseph McCaffery (Johnnie Mac) passed away at the age of 64 at his home in Rincon, Georgia. He was a loving father, avid golfer and friend to many.
John was born in Teaneck, NJ on November 9th 1956. He grew up in Old Bridge, New Jersey. After high school, he joined the Air Force, serving as an aircraft technician. Following his discharge, he attended Embry- Riddle Aeronautical University in Daytona Beach Florida, earning his associate's degree and qualifying for his Airframe and PowerPlant license. He spent the majority of his career at Gulfstream Aerospace, working at Ramstein Air Force Base, Germany and in Savannah Georgia. While overseas, he traveled extensively in Europe with his family for four years. He also spent some years working for Jet Aviation in Teterboro, New Jersey.
He is survived by his beloved daughter, Lauryn McCaffery of Columbus Georgia and Matt Renner, his two sisters, Ann McCaffery Hale and her husband Glenn Hale of Carrollton Texas,and Susan McCaffery Gehling of Nashua New Hampshire, his former wife, Krista Schultz McCaffery, his favorite four-legged companion, Jake and numerous nieces and nephews.
He is predeceased by his mother, Joan McCaffery Guilfloyle and his father, John Francis McCaffery.
John loved to spend time watching his favorite golf tournaments, golfing, tending to his garden. Often you could find him socializing at favorite watering holes with some of his favorite people. He was a member of the Clyo Masonic Lodge #280.
Visitation will be held at Strickland Funeral Home in Rincon Georgia on Sunday, August 15th from 4-6 pm. Graveside service will be at the Greenwich Cemetery in Savannah at 11:30 on Tuesday, August 17.
