Mr. John G. "Nat" Harris, 78, of Port Wentworth, died on the evening of Wednesday,
March 26, 2008 at his son's home surrounded by his family and friends.
Mr. Harris was born in Montgomery, Alabama and had lived in Port Wentworth for the
past 64 years and was of the Catholic faith. He retired from the Savannah Sugar Refinery
and was an avid golfer. He was preceded in death by his wife, Johnnie Will Harris and a
daughter, Alice Brown.
Survivors include two sons and a daughter-in-law, Darrell & Frances Harris of Pooler and
Mike Harris of Port Wentworth; daughter and son-in-law, Debbie & John George of
Richmond Hill; 9 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren; brother, Gene Harris of
Montgomery, AL; three brothers-in-law and a sister-in-law, Victor Polero of
Milledgeville, Mildred Sholl of Port Wentworth, Edith Hall of Charleston, SC and Eddie
Morris of South Carolina and a number of nieces, nephews and friends.
The visitation for Mr. Harris will be from 5-8 p.m. on Friday, March 28, 2008 at the
Thomas C. Strickland & Sons Funeral Home, West Chatham Chapel in Pooler.
The funeral to celebrate the life of Mr. Harris will be at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, March
29, 2008 in the chapel of the Thomas C. Strickland & Sons Funeral Home with Father
Patrick O'Brien officiating. Pallbearers will be Brian Cartee, Jason Harris, Brian
McCarthy, Jonathan Howard, Bart Traywick and David Traywick. Mr. Harris will be
buried next to his wife at Forest Lawn Memory Gardens following the chapel service.
