John Parsons, Jr.
Savannah - John Parsons, Jr., 76, went to rest with his Heavenly Father on Sunday, April 29, 2007.
The son of the late John & Amy Akins Parsons of Kentucky was a member of Bethesda United Methodist Church. He served 26 years with the U.S. Air Force, during WWII, Korean, and Vietnam Wars. He worked at the Pentagon, which his office was bombed 9/11. While serving 3 years in England, he held the highest score of sharpshooting in the country. He crossed the Atlantic & Pacific Oceans many times and had many service awards. He loved to hunt, fish, and camp. He was a member of Winnebago Club, Happy Campers, and worked 22 years with the Department of Agriculture.
Survivors include his wife, Ann Kessler Parsons of Savannah; daughter, Debra Parsons Clements of Guyton; son, John Ronald Parsons of Guyton; 3 grandchildren; a number of great-grandchildren; sister, Ellena Blackburn of Pikeville, KY; and several nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
Funeral services will be 3 p.m. Wednesday at Bethesda United Methodist Church.
Interment will be in the church cemetery.
