Rincon-Mr. John W. (Johnny) Perkins, 78, died on Thursday, March 4, 2010 at Hospice
Savannah.
He was born on October 14, 1931 in Statesboro, GA to the late Alec & Etta Mae Perkins.
He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Rincon and was an active member for 15
years of The Good Sam's Camping Club where he enjoyed camping with family and
friends. He retired from the Union Camp Fire Department after 33 years of service. He
was the owner/operator of Perkins Chainlink Fence Company for 28 years. He was a
loving husband, father, grandfather and father-in-law.
He leaves behind his loving wife of 57 years, Claydie Lastinger Perkins; two daughters
and sons-in-law, Charlotte (Tommy) Smith and Glenda (Sidney) Key; son, Randall
(Brenda) Perkins; 9 grandchildren; eleven great-grandchildren and his beloved dog, Lacy.
The visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. on Saturday at the Thomas C. Strickland & Sons
Funeral Home, West Chatham Chapel in Pooler.
The graveside funeral will be at 2 p.m. on Sunday at Rincon Cemetery. Rev. Kenny
Harrelson and Rev. Barnard Lastinger will officiate and the pallbearers will be Russell
Lee, Mark Wise, Scott Smith, Rusty Key, Blake Key, Brandon Perkins, Matthew Perkins
and Darrell Gaskins.
