Obituary

Rincon - John "Pappy" Poythress, 94 years young passed away October 11, at his home in Rincon, GA.
John served in the Army/Airforce for almost 3 years in WWII as a radio operator in a B-23 Bomber. For his service he received a WWII Victory Medal and various other medals. Leaving the army he opened and operated the P & S Truck Stop for 35 years. The only things Pappy loved more than a good toddy, was his family and pretty ladies.
He is survived by his daughter, Cherie Todd-Becker; and his favorite son-in-law, Bill; two grandchildren, Dr. Trever J. Todd and Erin Michelle Todd. He is predeceased in death by his first wife, Ellen Miller; and his second wife, Lily G. Poythress; his parents Hull and Mae Poythress; 4 brothers and 3 sisters.
There will be a visitation on Monday from 1-2 p.m. at the funeral home with the funeral following at 2 p.m. Burial will follow at Bonaventure Cemetery in Savannah, GA.
