Mr. John Wiley Riner, Sr., 85, of Pooler, Georgia, passed away on Wednesday, March 9, 2022 at his home.

Wiley was born in Garfield, Georgia to the late Ralph Riner and Madie Lamb Riner.  He was also preceded in death by his sister,Willene Calhoun, and his brother, Leamon Riner.  He was an Ordained Deacon at Meldrim Baptist Church and attended Powers Baptist Church.  He served his country in the United States Army, retired from International Paper, and enjoyed the outdoors, camping, and fishing.

Survivors include his wife of 58 years, Barbara Hill Riner of Pooler, Georgia; daughter and son-in-law, Marsha Petrea (Charlie) of Smyrna, Georgia; son and daughter-in-law, John W. Riner, Jr. (Crystal) of Pooler, Georgia; grandchildren, Will Petrea (Jenny) of Dallas, Georgia, Haley Screen and Kensley Screen, both of Savannah, Georgia; sister-in-law, Connie Riner of Sylvania, Georgia, as well as several nieces and nephews.

The visitation will be on Sunday, March 13, 2022 from 2 until 3 p.m. at the funeral home.  The funeral will follow at 3 p.m. in the chapel of the funeral home with burial to follow at Oak Hill Cemetery in Meldrim, Georgia.
